Getting rid of Lily of the Valley

A friend of mine is asking how to get rid of the Lily of the Valley in her garden. It seems to be taking over most of it at a rate of knots and she's now pulling her hair out! Preferably without spraying if that's possible?

d'ya know, it's one of the few things I can't grow, nasty sour clay soil, full of slugs and snails..tell her to dig 'em up and sell 'em..there are lots of people who would buy them ;D

Posie, I was silly enough to be 'gifted' both lilly of the valley and montbretia a few years ago ::) I don't, and have never wanted to, spray them. SO.....it's pulling, pulling, pulling, as soon as they appear asnd getting rid of in the council's composting scheme. Ab-so-bloody-lutely would I put them on my compost heap ;D
Good news is that x years on, I've a manageable clump of lily-of-the-valley - but I'm still working on the montbretia :D

Hmm, I'm sure she'll be thrilled, apparently it's infested her garden completely!

Seems its all or nothing then. I've tried growing lily of the valley loads of times and it always dies!

If she's got any spare, I'd be grateful! It's always died on me, so far at any rate. Montbretia is a pain to get rid of, but I've never had it trying to take over either.

I'll certainly ask her if she's got any left - assuming she hasn't massacred them already!

Re Lily of the Valley. I was given 2/3 little "pieces" about 3/4 years ago. They were beginning to take over a border so I cleared most, or at least I thought I did.
Couple of members of A4A have had some (Foolhardy ;D ;D?) No doubt they will be popping up again next year. If anyone wants any PM me your address so that I can keep a note and I will send you some. I still love them!!
