Sunflower Teddy Bear
« on: May 21, 2008, 22:13:03 »
I got a pack of 5 varieties of sunflower in Wyevale sale. Sowed them all last week and this is the only one where none have germinated yet. Hasanyone grown this one before?

I grew it last year. It took ages to get going, but when it did, it was really vigorous. Each plant had several heads. They were really squidgeable...if you know what I mean ;D . I am growing them again this year.

I grew four different types of sunflowers this year, and one of them was Teddy Bear, the labels didn't work out ;D so don't know which is which.  Can you tell me do Teddy Bear ones have a darker leaf?

Thank you

The packet for mine describes them as"a dwarf sunflower with yellow double flowers that have a fluffy, rounded appearance". from the picture, the flowers don't look like typical sunflowers, they are much more "pom-pom" shaped.

theyre definately dwarf and mine are desperately trying to flower but the slugs are nibbling on them so i dont know that they will, is it worth starting again?? even the larger sunflowers have almost all been eaten, and the survivors have very few leaves in theyre desperate race above slug chomping height, and i used egg shells!! grrr!!!
i think i like it here :D now who can tell me how to grow my own chocolate???
