Is Countesthorpe a 'rough' area?

yes i do. Countesthorpe is a nice village on the outskirts of Leicester, like any village there are good bits and bad. theres a great farm shop nearby and the city is very easy to get to. :)

my son lives in the middle of leicester, "it's a nicer place to live than wigan"  ;D

I do,
Countesthorpe is quite a nice area just on the out skirts but quite built up, suburban housing estates with a little village centre,
