The principle of the thing is that the regular (i.e.daily) rotation ensures constant aeration of the contents, resulting in much faster oxydation and composting. However, the regular rotation is vital - particularly if you put in a lot of sticky stuff - because if the contents are once allowed to form into sticky lumps they will remain in sticky lumps.
