Thank you all for your kind comments ( ;D ;D at Tim). Here are a few (!) pics of my plot, and this is a small part of my intended acceptance speech: 8)

I would like to thank the following people for helping me to attain the dizzying heights of 3rd place in the 5 rod competition of the Great Wakering Allotments Annual Competition.
Firstly, my dear husband, John, aka the Bearded Wonder, for being such an ardent sports fanatic that he didn't notice when I went out at 2pm and came back at 7pm. Also for being such a miserable buggar when asked to do anything on said plot that he gave us many hours of mirth at his expense.
2nd, all my pals (with the exception of Sandie and Effie), who asked how the plot was coming on and then rolled their eyes when I actually told them. ;D
3rd,Steve, who's encouragement of 'you don't want to do it like that' and that's never going to work' I could have done without.
4th (welling up now) My girls, for eating stuff they hate, just because I grew it.
And finally...(sobbing uncontrollably now, wiping nose on sleeve) all you lovely people on A4A for your advice and seeds and watershed contributions....I thank you all.  (Cue dramatic music, any suggestions?)

To those who asked, the letter says there will be a prize giving, so I am hopeful of a contribution to the glove fund as suggested by Manics ;D
