Are you into Craisins?
« on: June 26, 2008, 15:22:15 »
Just wondering if Craisins (dried cranberries) have made it over The Pond.
My favorite way to use our greens right now is underneath a chopped fruit like apple/pear/melon
topped with a sprinkling of Craisins (or dried cherries work as well),
walnuts and crumbled gorgonzolla cheese or blue cheese
and some type of sweet dressing- my favorite is honey mustard, or poppyseed.
It is a salad with lots of contrasting flavors and textures.

I've seen them in a few shops in Glasgow just recently actually. Rather worryingly I have also seen orange flavoured dried cranberries!!!?

Why would you take a perfectly decent dried fruit and then flavour it orange? (probably with a hefty dose of synthetics).

Ocean Spray is selling the Craisins as a health food so perhaps the orange flavor is the real thing. I hope so at any rate. Always a new twist to products for people like my son in law who loves to shop with coupons to try new foods. He thinks of it as an adventure, bless his heart. He also likes to cook! Our daughter hit the jack pot.
