water butts and hosepipe ?

ok i know someone is going to think im really really dumb by asking this BUT i have to lol
i have 2 waterbutts one attached to guttering on my shed and one on my greenhouse
The one on my shed has a tap attached so i can fill my watering can easily
now the ? i want to ask is can i attach a hosepipe and use the water up that way?
with all the rain lately im full up :)

Yes - but as the level reduces, you will get less & less flow. And it won't happily go uphill.

A pump does work.

If you want to use it through a hosepipe you really need to pump it up to a big tank at head level at least. It has been done; there's still a plot on my site with the remains of such a system, though I've no idea whether it still works. I wouldn't particularly want to have to crank the thing!
