I am on mine, but I know of other areas of the country where it's not allowed. I'd contact your allotments officer.

If you mean are they allowed on your plot with regard to The Allotments Act then the answer is yes.
As stated all allotments have their own rules but if they so no are they in breach of the Allotment Act by not allowing you to do so.

in my contract that i signed it said, "i can have 12 chickens and rabbits per plot"
My hens arnt a problem on my allotment. but my cockerel is turning heads already and hes only been up there one day. if i have any problems, i will state that it doesnt say im not allowed one. im not even near a house. if i have to much trouble i will just get a small holding or sumthing. just for the chickens :D

Tracy, My neighbour has a horse and we are no where near a race track.
It comes down to getting away with what you can till some one complains. At the other allotments in the village they are not allowed to light fires unless the wind is a Westerly wind as the smoke alarms go off in the houses nearby.
I am not allowed to have a fire on a Saturday because of the pigeon races but pigeons are not allowed under the Allotments Act.

Our council has cut down on the number of plots that have livestock to 20%. Those that already have hens can keep them. Any newbies wanting them will be refused. Though they can request one of the plots which is allowed hens - as and when one will become available.
People on our waiting list who ask for an allotment wait up to a year, those who request an allotment which they can put hens on can be waiting 3-4 years. My opinion would be to get an allotment, then move when one becomes free ;)

When someone wanted to keep chickens on a plot on our site, members were asked to vote and the majority voted in favour. The chickens have been ther for a few years now and as well as keeping many of us supplied with fresh free range eggs, they eat may of the dug up weeds/old plants etc that might otherwise be burned or dumped as well as enjoying as many snails and slugs as you can collect.
