As a total novice, looking to find out when these should be picked?

Thanks

I know what you mean. It's my third year with tomatoes and I'm still excited (mine aren't anywhere near as big as yours yet though).

You won't want shop bought again after you've tasted your own. Which variety are you growing?

I've got Shirley, Tigerella, Gardener's Delight and Gartenperle this year.

They can perfectly well be used green, but leave that till you have a glut, or till the end of the season.

When they turn yellow. You soon learn to judge them, and they're usable when unripe, so don't panic.

More difficult to decide when green tomatoes are ready!
