Just picked my Garlic Bulbs
« on: June 22, 2008, 17:48:47 »
Just picked my Garlic Bulbs and I would like to cook them now, but what recipes does anyone have?

The others I want to use later in the year, so how do I go about drying them out?

Sorry to ask stupid questions but I am new to this. ??? ??? ???

We've just put 4 whole bulbs to roast - 2 each... They come out pretty mild. HFW also had a nice looking Wet Garlic Chicken soup the other day... or garlic bhajia (make like onion ones but use garlic)...

Hi,

When it's fresh we tend to slice finely and add to roasted veg, Chilli, Spag Bo, Fishcakes basically anything you like to eat, when it's freshly dug it can be nice and mild.

Drying? 2 weeks in a light, airy place.

Don't dry until crisp. There should still be a little bend in the stems.

Some say cut off the roots - & the stems to within & a cm or so of the bulb.

I do neither & we're still using last year's.

Put a couple of whole bulbs (or cut them in half across the middle if they're big) in with your roast potatoes, then squash them into the gravy when they've cooked. Heaven!
