Topic: can you identify these trees?

I planted some mixed dwarf tree seeds from a Chiltern seed packet and two came up.

They're now about 3 inches, can anyone identify them?






I also have this dwarf eucalyptus which is now about 10 inches, can anyone tell me the kind?

The first one (s) look like roses to me...  :-\

First picture looks like rose - could be Rosa canina (dog rose) or R. arvensis (field rose)
Don't know the second picture
Third picture is Eucalyptus which I think looks like 'gunnii' - but gunnii isn't a dwarf species - although you can keep gunnii small by growing in a tub and then coppicing it to almost ground level annually when you would then get the nice young growth every year

first one definately looks like dog rose, second one needs to grow a bit more for I.D.

The second reminds me of Cytisus.   Pineapple broom as I also know it.

The first one is similar to loads, but with juvenil leaves and prickles I would have said its a soft fruit of sorts.

The first looks very rose like but the leaves are all in 5's roses alternate 5 and 3.

The second I think is a tree, possibly a cherry.

The third looks like a 'rose of sharron' has yellow flowers and pops up all over the place, not too bad as a shrub if you need one some where where nothing else grows, keep it cut hard back

My suspicion is that they are weeds recovered, and are either from compost or from bird droppings.

If it is from droppings then they will eventually flower and fruit and that will be your best chance for id.

Sawfish, I've had a scout round and I think your eucalyptus could be 'nitida' - Peppermint Gum . According to Jungleseeds website:

This tree has attractive shiny green adult leaves, is fast growing, reasonably tolerant of adverse conditions and hardy down to about -10°C to -15°C. The younger foliage has more of a typical grey/blue Eucalyptus hue and smell strongly of peppermint.

I've had some lovely trees and shrubs from a packet of Chilterns Lottery Mix during the last few years, Sawfish.

I don't recognise any you've put on but I find them really good fun to grow and I love the wonderful surprises you get.

At present, in my garden, I have an Oak Leaf Hydrangea, an Indigofera(which I really love), a dwarf Lilac, a Freemontedendron (with white flowers instead of the usual yellow) and a Callestemon (Bottle Brush) which is flowering for the first time - all from a packet of seed which cost under £1.50.
