Hi All,

Just that really - some have not swollen at the bulb much and have started to produce seed heads. I am happy to eat the bottom as a small onion but what about the green tops - its quite thick where the seeds are forming - is it edible?

Thanks
Liam

Keep getting worried that the stuff I grow will taste nasty - or turn out poisonous!

Can't see why not, you can eat the seed stems of hardneck garlics as scapes, and they are very tasty.

guess you'll never know if you don't try....

I have been.  I've been cooking them with the rest of the onion.

Ok thanks - I am never sure which parts of a plant are edible as they are stripped down to the minimum for shop sale.

Yes you can . I usually cut up and freeze to use in stir fry and soups that way I get the best value.
