Neighbours hedge covered in spit???
« on: June 01, 2008, 15:04:53 »
On finally getting into the garden, I noticed the neighbours hedge is covered in some kind of spit and its dripping onto my veg plots!!

he said its cuckoo spit, but I dont think it is that as its all over the place.

This hedge (which is a creeping one with red stems strangling anything in its way)  No idea what its called.  Its causing bad blood with me though!!!

It's the right time of year for cuckoo spit.  The hedge may just have a large infestation of the froghoppers.  The larvae hidden in the spit feed on new growth but it's probably not worth spraying.  If it really bothers you, you could hose it off.  Doubt if drips will do your veg patch any harm.
