With regard to the squash, I presume it was bought in a shop/supermarket.  The difficulty is whether it was an F1 variety, in which case any saved seed will be a bit of a mystery.  I'm not very knowledgeable on squash.

Re Gardener's Delight, yes you do need to take out the side shoots.

Worth a go but you are a bit late now if you are planning for this year.

Either or!!

Pinching out is done generally when you are using the 'cordon' method of growing whereas when growing as a bush this is not quite as important.

Having said that I think even when growing as a bush the number of trusses grown should be curtailed a bit after all the plant when grown as a bush or cordon has basically the same sized root system to sustain it.

2 QUERIES?

1. Dale Winton.

2. Graham Norton.

Sorry, couldn't resist it. I'll shut up now!
Tony.

Sow it, grow it, eat it.

Lesson one

Never put a question on the forum on a Saturday night. THEY drink and get silly

Squash.

Dry some seed and put in a bit of paper towel in a cool drawer. The rest put into a plant pot with some compost, about half an inch on top of the seeds.

Keep them moist and leave on a sunny window ledge for up to  two weeks or until seedlings pop up. They are big. If after 14 days nothing happens then throw the ones in the drawer, with the ones in the pot on to the compost

If seedlings pop up then repot them as soon as possible, you just might get some squash growing but it will be a good learning curve because those in the drawer should be carefully labled and kept until next April for sowing.

Tomatoes

As a rough rule, unless specifically told to, always take out the side shoots only a few, usually bush, varieties can they be left on.

No problem you are very welcome.  Pull up a chair ;D

We've got some best Netto chateau cardboard (aka wine box) which, actually is very good.

The drinks cabinet is reasonably well stocked.

Betula, I enjoy a good grouse myself, but I'm not a scotch drinker.

Brandy is my 'milk of amnesia' ;D
