insects
« on: May 11, 2008, 19:46:18 »
I have some strange red insects on the lillies they have a red back and black underbelly and legs. They have eight legs.

They appear to be humping all of the time between eating the leaves. There are loads of them.I tried to take a photo but couldn't get them focused.

Anyone know what they might be ?

They're lily beetles and you need to squish them PDQ or you'll be left with a little stump in the ground. The ones I've found have all been copulating too and I don't want their babies.  Shake them carefully off the plant into a container then squish.  If they drop to the gorund they fall upside down and you won't find them.
