blackbird disaster

A few weeks ago a blackbird built a nest in a conifer in my back garden. She then laid 3 eggs but this morning I found the nest had broken shells and bits of egg yolk in it. Do you think the bird will lay again or will they abandon the nest?

They'll probably start a new one. The old one's obviously been spotted by something, so it wouldn't be healthy for them to use it again.

Most likely the dreaded magpie, such beasties for a nice looking bird.
Nature i suppose :(
