That Cucumber problem again.
« on: June 28, 2008, 09:04:15 »
Can't figure it - 2 adjacent identical bags, 2 entirely different states of  health.

And all the others are fine too.

Most fruit on the poorly plants are dying at 1" long - as they do when the plant is overloaded.

I have one plant that has a cucumber that is growing really wellhowever the rests of the cucumbers growing on the same plant are really small.
Is this normal.............?

They can't - & shouldn't all be the same size, or the plant will be overloaded.

Grow bags, Calendula? I know that they are not the ultimate for growing, but we have no option, & they've served us well for 40 years or so. Conundrum is why one bag & not the other 29? Not all cus!!

I still think it is also more to do with each seed potential, even before it is sown it will have characteristics all of its own and this is what you are seeing now  :-\ but it would be boring if it were all the same  :)

Everything is possible. But coincidence that the only 2 poor ones that I've ever had are in one bag this year??

Is this what you mean Betula?

Is the floor of your greenhouse level ? Just an idea? Could nutrients or water not be reaching some of the cucs?? As well as the others?
