Geum Marmalade
« on: April 21, 2008, 10:08:58 »
Hi there

Did anyone see the Gardeners World on Friday night.  Monty was potting up a Geum Marmalade which was absolutely beautiful.  Does anyone know of a reputable company where I could purchase  a couple from?

Thanks

Hi Jitterbug

There are a number of suppliers on the RHS plant finder

http://www.rhs.org.uk/RHSPLANTFINDER/pfregions.asp?ID=134739

Hope that helps.

Thanks Cam

Lovely site.  I had googled and only came up with suppliers in the States.

Have found one in Hampshire that I will be going to visit in the next week-end or two. ;D ;D

Can you please tell me the name of the nursery you found it in? I had a look at some of the nurseries listed but couldn't find that variety. Thanks.

This is one near London:

Thanks Barnowl, I had a look, and added it to my basket, but p&p is a whopping £10! Seems very expensive to me. Does anyone know of any other suppliers? Our lovely old cat, Marmalade, died earlier this year and I thought this would be a nice plant, and apt, to put where he is buried in the garden, I've loved orange geums for ages too and have tried growing 'Cookie' from seed, although it didn't take.

Blimy, that seems a bit steep but I've checked a few others and they also have a hefty minimum P&P charge. Presumably designed to encourage buying more than one plant - the P&P for three is the same as for one.

I can only suggest you call local garden centres to see if they can get it in stock for you.

PS Might be easier to grow some rudbeckia "marmalade" from seed!

The one nursery near me has a mobile phone number listed and despite me trying for three days now is off.

If I have time I will take a drive through there on the week-end and see if they have it.  I have checked with my local nursery and they do not stock this colour.

Will report back with my findings...

Thanks a lot for going to all that trouble Barnowl. I like your idea of rudbeckia too, I think it may end up with that.  :)
