Gordon Ramsey is partial to garden snails, he hunted them down in his garden and cooked them :)

A French woman on Radio 4 said that garden snails were better in every way than the so called edible snail - but I'm veggie so don't send em to me. ;D

Dont you just have to feed them on lettuce for a week or so to "cleanse their system".......then in the pan they go?

Dont fancy it myself like.

mmm yum snails in garlic butter
Lots of elderly rural people here still catch their own! they purge them for three days on starvation diet then roll them in salt which makes all the slime come out. Then you give them a quick boil to kill them, stuff them with garlic and parsley butter and bake in the oven.
Here in France you can buy little forks just for getting snails out of their shells
Of course they don't have much flavour persay and they are a bit chewy but you only eat them for the juicy butter that you slop up with a real baguette.
Lunch anyone??
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

The first and only time I had snails was on a troopship on the way to the Falklands!!

Garlic snails they where and just like chewing a piece of garlic coated rubber!

Tread on them to break the shells them throw them into your fish pond as large fish especially koi will love them. Koi do have teeth.  ;D

In their throats, and big ones. They're carp, and putting your fingers down the throat of a decent-sized fish of that family is a big mistake!

Great Idea.

Organic nut cracker. Watch out for it on e-bay.
