« on: April 19, 2008, 22:14:20 »
Can i do anything with my asparagus .They are in pots in the greenhouse and have been for the last two years. They look good but of course are restricted in post.Should i plant in the allotment.I wouldn't want to risk growing the asparagus fort wo years and then killing them in one season

Did you grow them from seed or crowns? If you grew them from seed they should be good crown size and you could plant them out as normal asparagus. Either way, they need to go out.

Yes, I'd also be tempted to give them a go outside. Make sure the ground you give them is well prepared - free from perennial weeds and in good 'heart'  (i.e. has a high proportion of organic matter as a base). Maybe wait until May though if you live in a northerly locality (UK). A photo always helps..

Just do what I did. You can see on my page that yours are ready to go out.
