Another potato question
« on: April 18, 2008, 08:23:58 »
I am growing my spuds in huge huge bags and they are all poking through.

I know i have to keep adding compost and then roll the bag up.

They all poking through now, do i cover all the leaves with compost?

Just a little confused what I actually cover with compost.

Can anyone please advise :)thanks

The usual ploy is to grow to 4" & then cover all but 1" - & repeat.

If they are outside SBG I would cover the lot in case of frosts.  ;D ;D ;D

I would prefer to use a bit of fleece.

Keep covering the haulms while you can roll up the bags no more.

Once they are rolled right up and the haulms show through again, you can then cover them with fleece if need be like Tim suggests.
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose
