« on: April 09, 2008, 13:54:08 »
Hello!

Hope someone can help me, do you need to put brassica collars on sprouts, brocolli & cauliflowers or is it mainly for cabbages???   Also, when can you put cabbages etc out because my window cills are starting to take root!!!!!!!!!

You put them on all types of brassicas because they are all subject to damage by root fly

Do you have a cold frame?

If not put them outside against the house wall to harden off. If frost is forecast you could fetch them in overnight and put them out again in the morning.

Depending upon your DIY skills fix a timber lath to the house wall to support a piece of fleece or polythene.

Then all you have to do is fix the fleece/polythene with drawing pins to the timber in a 'lean-to' fashion. Hold the loose end down with bricks or similar.
