New boy with something to offer?
« on: April 01, 2008, 06:58:03 »
Hi Guys

This is my first post since registering this morning.  I will introduce myself properly in another forum but anyway here I am.

I planted my butternut squashes (cobnut) last night and there were about 12 seeds and as I only plan on planting 4 on my plot there will be a number of spares.  I was going to flog them on ebay for 50p or something to get some pennies for next years seeds but as they would be for collection only the market would be very limited.  I am also considering flogging them from the front garden of the mother in laws house (beautiful thatched cottage in rural village location with many keen gardeners about) but seeing as I am joining the allotmenteering family I have decided to offer the spares for free to any member on here who can pick up what they want.

The same also goes for the Giant Pumpkin (hundredweight) that I also planted.  I only intend planting one of them so there should be about 6 spares up for grabs.

I am in south essex (ss170ra) and the plants would probably be ready in about a month or so.  Any interested parties please contact me.

Michael

Hi Michael

I know your new so you obviously you dont know but I dont think your allowed to try to sell stuff on the forum, its more about swapping info and occasionally swapping seeds.

I wish you luck on ebay and in your mother in laws garden though  :)

That over the gate offer is a good idea... we sell stuff for allotment funds on a big NGS open day but have the stall up for left overs each day we can get someone to sit with it and raise another £100 or so!!
Welcome to the site Michael..

Hi Guys

I guess my ramblings confused the matter.  I am happy to offer the plants free to members, provided they can pick them up.  I only intended to sell them to joe public.  Us and them and all that.

Hi and Welcome!
Afraid i'm too far away too - but thanx for the generous offer. Happy gardening!

Bit far for me too,  I would struggle to grow big boys like that in my small space too :-\
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.
