I need to get my 1yr old asparagus plants into the ground but my lottie is not ready for them, what can I do, can I put them in a large pot just for now and leave them in the plastic they came in, I don't wan to loose them

Casey - they will be ready to start shooting soon, so as a last resort I would try and pot them up and then get them planted out as soon as the bed is ready. I would have thought they need a biggish pot for each crown so they aren't cramped. Although they are tough plants I wouldn't leave them in the pots until next year. You aren't going to be able to crop from them this year so they may survive the check, but remember when you do plant them out they don't like too much root disturbance.
