Heirloom Seeds Database Links
« on: February 16, 2008, 12:36:19 »
I don't know how many of you out there grow heirloom produce to the level that you either maintain your own mini seed bank or just require info on rare and older varieties.

This first link is to a database in France which has thousands of tomatoes - lots of pics too:

http://ventmarin.free.fr/passion_tomates/passion_tomate.htm

This second link is to a database in Canada that covers most Canadian heirlooms:

http://www.seeds.ca/hpd/specieslist.php

Be patient when loading the French one as the pages are simply gigantic.   It is also written in French but you can get SOME of the page translated @ AltaVista or Google.   The pages are just too big for the translator to do it all but since info is often repeated it is not hard to work out.

Do enjoy.

Thanks for that Barkingdog.   Here is a German database....not very lage but with stunning photography.   A better read than the Beano.

This is the translated link
