Manure
« on: February 17, 2008, 07:18:19 »
Does anyone live in the Swindon area that knows a good place to get manure from.  I am looking for someone local to deliver to the lottie as my husband refuses to put it in the car lol.  I have also been offered tons of chicken manure is that any good for the soil, I'm always a bit wary of it as haven't heard good things about it.

Chicken manure is great but very high in nitrogen... so much so that it can actually 'burn' roots. Stack it and let it mature a bit... or use as a top dress around but not on established plants..

Put a bit of chicken manure in a sack or something similar, sling it in a barrel of water, and it makes superb liquid manure.
