Anyone know how to prune a Pieris ? Mine is very out of shape and straggly.

Can you hard prune them ? down to the gound ? Do they regrow from the hardwood ?

When should I do this,  Autumn or after flowering ?

I would be careful as they do not like to be messed about with to much, they are slow growers so I would not take it to the ground.AFTER flowering prune lightly.

You can also try cutting out one or two of the longest branches to close to the trunk; they will re-shoot in time, but it may take several months. As the previous poster says, definitely not to the ground all at once - you've a chance of killing it that way.
