In Memory of Supersprout
« on: February 06, 2008, 21:39:44 »
Those of you who were using the site around this time last year will remember that our dear friend Sarah was very ill and sadly died on 1 March.  Sarah brought a lot of joy to many posters here with her wit and wisdom, not to mention her generosity when it came to sharing seeds.  I’m sure you’ll wish to join me in sparing a few moments to think of her family and close friends as the anniversary of her death approaches.  A very special lady who is sadly missed but will never be forgotten.

I do remember Sarah from this and another site, she was such a lovely lady. I only spoke to her a few times and was deeply saddened by her passing.

Thanks for posting  Georgie

I'll be thinking of her when we officially get the second plot.
I will sow in late spring, the Cherokee Trail of Tears that I was going to give her last year (I missed her at Christmas).

She was the first person to send me a PM I think, I found her to be very  welcoming when I first joined . Sadly she died  shortly after we met on A4A , however in the short time we had the chance to chat she left a remarkable impression on me. Her true warmth and generosity is seldom found .I  believe she is someone I would love to have been great friends with.

Georgie, as you say a very special lady. Sarah PM'd me shortly after I joined A4A. She told me that she often went to Downham Market and would willingly come to March to bring me some "hop muulching". As you know daughter had a horse so was receiving plenty of horse manure.  I wish I had taken up her offer if only to meet this special lady.

I was busy "lurking" both on here and another site, and never had the pleasure of "speaking"to Supersprout (really wish I had)
I spend alot of time searching the archives for advice, and will have a bittersweet smile when I find her in a new thread, normally with exactly what I'm looking for, plus the humor and warmth that made her so special.
I hope it's of some comfort to her friends on here and her family to know that she's still being appreciated, and missed, by people who never had the honor of calling her their friend.

She had the great gift of making everyone feel special and always had time for you no matter what you wanted to discuss. She gave generously without counting the cost.

So SO glad that we met.

Yes, definitely. Just hope my son didn't bash her brand new cake tin,, which was bought at the garden centre where we met up, too much! It was a half-term before Christmas and the tin was for Christmas cake. She even showed me her box of seeds - it was in one of those personal filing box folder thingies.

I still have her phone number on my mobile.

I was feeling a bit silly because I couldn't delete her PM to me but I see i'm not the only one. I first 'met' her on the BBC site and soon recognised that she was over here too as she had such a distinctive style. Always one of the first to respond to a query and quick to offer help. Such a lovely person.

Amazing, I still have a PM from her that I felt was wrong to delete!!

We had the most amazing 10 foot plus Jerusalem Artichoke from JA's that she sent me, I didn't get the chance to 'know' her for long but it was obvious straight away that this was a special lady.

Sadly missed by all those who knew her well and those who didn't have the chance to know her better.
