Resowing a lawn
« on: January 25, 2008, 14:28:36 »
Sadly we started digging our pond in the wrong place :(

So we want to resow the lawn where we started digging ideally with wildflowers there as well.

Any ideas ?

I have grown commercial grass seed and wildflower mixes from farm trader type shops, not much variety of flowers came up!

Select a non vigourous grass, not rye grass, and either add packets of wildflower mixes or grow them as plugs and plant later.

The grass seed can go on as soon as you are ready. Remember to firm the soil by doing the silly walk all over it then a quick rake to levell it.

Go and get some hay barn sweepings. Just ask a farmer, most don't mind and you will have all sorts of grasses and wild flowers coming up in no time.
