Surprising, in a way?

But, for those who haven't seen it, the Which report shows B&Q's Seed & Potting composts to be streets ahead of any others tested. But not cheap!

I know what you mean about not being cheap Tim I tend to make my own seed & potting compost for economy reasons plus I know whats in it.

Was doing a bit of a check up/ comparison on stuff the other day and came across this example;

I use lots of 'Chempak' products which I buy wholesale.

Generally I can get Chempak No.4 for under £3 a pack (just forgotten what I paid last year)

Now look at this;

Retail from makers;http://tinyurl.com/yvs59p

Same stuff from T & M ; http://tinyurl.com/264typ plus £1.99 p&p

How can such prices be justified??

I think it is because of the interest shown by people in producing their own veg etc and the seed suppliers are taking advantage of this.

I am finding that gardening is not as cheap as it was when you think of how they are selling such things as cucumber seeds at a £1+ each.

If it were not for the organisations I am in where I get cheapish seed and composts etc I think I would give it up.

What do you think?
