Drying out plants in a coldframe
« on: January 10, 2008, 21:12:48 »
I have some carnation plugs I have just potted on and my sweetpeas in my coldframe. The problem is that about a month ago on a nice morning I opened the lid of the coldframe, only for it to rain a little while later. By the time I closed the lid the plants were soaked. They have still not dried out yet and I am starting to worry that the carnations may start to rot.
Is there any way to dry the compost out or am I worrying about nothing?

damp and cold generally don't make for happy conditions - maybe stand them on some newspaper at least to balance the wet out a bit
