Peas are meant to be eaten within seconds of picking off the plant! Many a "meal" has made its way into my stomach without first going home into the kitchen!

I grew runners AND peas in trug tubs

Have just bought one of these large trug tubs to have a go at growing runners or peas.  Do I have to drill some drainage holes, & if so, in the base or on the side near the bottom?

Thanks, Luckydog

How many pea seeds would you all recommend to plant in the ground for a small family... we all hate runner beans im afraid :) fussy lot!!.  So opted for peas instead.
Last year I grew peas in succession every 2-3 weeks. Had 8 sowings. None made it home. Got to the stage where the kids only came down to sit & raid the peas. I only used four 12 ft rows. (2 either side of a length of guttering, 8 inch gap between guttering rows) As long as they have the string or wire for them to grow up, they didn't take much room at all.

I bet none of your peas will make the pot. (kids+peapods = empty cooking pot) ;D ;D
