Nuts!  Oh well, my giant has now opened and is over 2meters 40.  I reakon if there had been a drop more rain it might have been a touch taller.

But, I am not bothered, they are all so stunning!  And as the flowers wilt, the heads get even bigger!!

I went to tie mine to the support pole last night - but my steps weren't big enough - I had to move the pot to nearer the house and then I could get to it from my bedroom window - it's still growing but there's a flowerhead forming now. I'll measure and post pics soon I promise.

yo Beer_Belly !!

Just read through this thread and decided to measure tallest of mine.  Pah, a mere 2:20, but it has lovely dark orange petals.

Amazing recovery powers, Sunflowers.  I've had two or three over the past 2 years that have bent over during early development - one in the pot (about 6") and one in the ground, about 2'.  Looked like gonners, stems kinked badly.  However, I perservered, splinted them up, gave them extra special care and attention, and both recovered to grow strong stems and healthy flowers, with a bit of a knuckle at the site of the accident.

Wot with that and the way that my skin heals even after picking blackberries I find Mother Nature truly amazing.

My whopper is now fully open and looking stunning, but I didn't notice the one next to it creeping up to the same height, and now beyond, and still a tight flower bud.  Must remember tape measure next visit!   Hoorah!!

Well, here I am on my jollies, sat looking through the window at the Yorkshire rain. Can't get out of the village due to severe flooding in and around Skipton. It'll be next week before I see what my Sunny efforts have finally ended up at. Could be they've dried up in the 30c + temp over there in Belgium. Having a nice time here and not really looking forward to the 12 hour trip back there!
