I don't think we can compare this year to last year - We had a lot of well-timed good weather throughout the winter - which continued right through to the end of April.

This year it's a hope and a prayer.

But I've been preparing my areas by covering them with carpet / plastic - which just seems to help enough and keeps the ground a bit dryer - so that when we do get a fews hours break in the rain (!?) the soil's not completely saturated.

Don't know if anyone else finds this useful...

What a beautiful 3 days we have had.  I've dug loads on Thursday, Friday and today (i'm lucky as they are my days off work).  It felt like summer today, listening to the birds and sitting without my coat with the sun shinning down....bliss...it's the sort of day i dream about all winter!
