I read somewhere that a sterilization program is on the cards, something that can be added to their food which will render them infertile. Sounds like a good idea to me, what are they waiting for?

Might be a bit difficult injecting all those acorns with the medication  ;D

Try hanging your feeder from a spring.
the little buggers are no good at bungy jumping , and the look on thier face is a picture.

because it can trap other animals than squirrels .... and so you can catch the little blighters that you cannot get in other traps, and if you get an owl or something you can let it go.....

I am not a fan of the grey squirrel, in fact I detest them.

If you trap a grey, and release it into the wild, without a licence to do so, you are committing an offence.  But if you do so, greys are territorial animals, so if you release your trapped animal on to another grey's territory, the end result will be a fight to the death, and happily a dead grey

Yes they look cute, but they are more responsible for the decline in songbird numbers than the detested magpie.

I would like to see a total cull of them.

So would I in all honesty, but it would never happen. There are far too many, I do think that a sterilization programme may be more successful though it would take a long time.

I also think that hunting them for the odd meal would help.......can you imagine them on a restaurant menu? squirrel canapes, squirrel stew, squirrel kebabs after a night out!

I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Funny you should say about serving them in restaurants star, OH used to do a lot of travelling with his job, and once, when in Prague he had a meal.  Afterwards he tried to ask what the meat was.  Despite language difficulties he got the impression that 'the meat' was squirrel.

He said it tasted very much like chicken. (TOG written all over him!!!)

I think we are missing out on a 'wild harvest'.  As they are vermin, but very, very tasty vermin, I think we should take advantage.

A ruddy great blunderbuss, or duck gun to scatter the little blighters.

You have to go a bit further up th A50 from here to be a chip-eater, so I think I'll go for lashings of mash, and

loads of wine ;D ;D ;D
