watering edibles with pond water

Is it ok to water edible plants with pond water?

We don't have an outside tap, so to save the walk up and down the stairs to our flat carrying buckets of water, I've started watering with pond water. Is that alright to do?

Obviously I won't do it when it's very hot and the level is dropping a lot, but at the moment, if it rains anymore, it will overflow!
gone to pot :D

I can't see any reason why not to. I'm not an expert, but would have thought that the water should have a little nitrogen in, from the fish poo and bits of weed. Not sure I would use on salad crops though.
