Actinidia deliciosa
« on: November 23, 2007, 10:50:16 »
The kiwifruit vine has really got out of hand this year so I have had to saw it off near the ground. It has layered itself in places so I am hoping these will take over from the main plant. I am also hoping it will reshoot from the main plant.  Does anybody else have  these climbers and what do they do with them to stop them getting out of hand. It is about 12 years old and grown originally for its flowers and shape. I did get about 30kg of fruit this year which I store in the cool garage and get a few out each week and put them in the fruit bowl with bananas. This is the best way of ripening them.
I have also hung some up in the trees as the squirrels (red) love them and they will not be able to raid the vine this year.
