Hi NTSMASTER
The short answer is no.
The allotment act 1922 and the later adjustements to it doesnt apply to northern ireland so the the six people on a list rule doesnt either. The only council that does offer plots is belfast they have three sites. with a 250 people waiting list .
There used to be thousands of plots after the war but the lack of legislation protection has meant that very few still survive.
Belfast justifed opeining a new plot by using healthy living requirement in the agenda 21 stuff. but really its a losing ticket at other councils. The preson there to talk to about it is Reg Maxwell [MaxwellR@BelfastCity.gov.uk]
Im on a private allotment site in newtownards-becuase there are no allotments in the ards council area,-for which we pay £200 a year which is pretty scandalous but either you own a country estate or you pay to garden.
but maybe youll have more luck than we did with a different council.
