You might try Baker Creek Seed Co.

I think Jeannine has used them successfully.

They do the Cambodian Giant.

Hi, cambourne7
Not really, if you post it as a regular business envelope it will go through without a problem. The only way it can be confiscated is, one its a really fat envelope over 1/4 inch wide, or if the seeds where sent in a bubble mailer. I tend to take a sheet of paper towel and fold it into thirds and place the little plastic seed packets inside taped to the paper towel with scotch tape (cellophane tape) and send them off their way.
Mind you each seed packet is very small and has only 10 to 15 seeds in each.

good to know ron :)

I used to have to send the food parcels to our US office, and filling in all the FDA forms for a bar of chocolate was a little insane!

Hi, cambourne7
Well, I can undstand the reasons why they don't want seeds imported from
overseas, foreign insects are a big issue, but in our world today most instect infestations are global nowadays. The biggest issue they had is really soil born diseases, nut what gets me is that it is well known that these soil born diseases
are world wide, and are not isolated to one area of the world. So how in the world can a seed shipment transfer soil born diseases that are already there?

Seems nuts, right? But the above is in MMHO:)

I have bought seeds extensively overseas (Ireland not having much in the way of seed companies) and have used Bakers Creek and a few others based in the US without any problems.  They do have an excellent selection of Asian vegetable seeds, though you should also try www.rareseeds.co.uk as they have some interesting seeds to offer as well.

Hi, Rob08
Thanks for the info, I'll look into that:)

Sorry if my post may have not been totally descriptive, but I was referring to seeds sent from hobbyist to hobbyist not seeds from a seed company to buyer.

I buy most of my seeds from the US and Canada simply because I can get the varieties and the package sizes I need, most companies will ship too the Uk even though there are restrictions on some seeds, however I have never had customs open or confiscate anything and I do order some biggish parcels sometimes. Baker Creek is one of my favourites and recommend them highly. There is a company in the US called the Oriental/Asian veggie company or something like that, they have a huge selection but I found the postage was unreasonable so i never bothered.

PS I do have Ping Tung,Thai Yellow,Cambodia Green Giant, and Koya Kumba aubergines by the way XX

Hi, Jeannine
Thanks for the info:)

"PS I do have Ping Tung,Thai Yellow,Cambodia Green Giant, and Koya Kumba aubergines by the way"

I'm interested in your eggplants, would you care to trade seeds?

I have the following to trade:
Tomatoes:
Azoychka
Aunt Ruby's German Green
Aunt Gerties Gold
Shaker Village
Ruby Gold
Debbie
Mortgage Lifter Estler's Strain
Moskovich
Bloody Butcher
Tigerella
Caspian Pink
Brandywine Pink
Farmer Reds
Glamour
Good old fashioned Red
Early Glee
Missouri Pink Love Apple
Fox Cherry
Bull's Heart
Ponderosa Red
Ponderosa Pink
Tappy's Haritige
Bonny Best
Polish Giant
Mortgage Lifter = Burpee (Radiator Charlie's Strain)
I verified the origin of the Mortgage Lifter with Burpee's.
Their research indicates that their Mortgage Lifter was developed in 1930, the year Radiator Charlie first released the Mortgage Lifter,
confirming that this is the original Radiator Charlie's Mortgage Lifter.

Eggplants:
Black Beauty

Peppers Sweet & Hot
Jalapeno M
Hot Portugal
Sweet Banana

Let me know if your interested, Ron:)

Having followed this thread I have ordered some seed from Baker Creek and also joined their idigmygarden forum - which is an interesting site. But of those of you who have ordered from Baker Creek how long does it take for seeds to come. They sent me an email saying order despatched on 10 November - am I just too impatient to be asking my postman now whether he has a package for me. (Probably need to rephrase that when I do ask :o)

I was being too impatient - seeds arrived from Bakers yesterday. What fab service - some of the things I ordered were out of stock so they gave me a refund on those items and then threw in a couple of packets of free seeds to make up for it. Fantastic service. I will definitely buy from them again.

They are good , I really like the homely service they give, the freebies have always been in my orders too, I also like the way they give you quite large packets of seeds if the  germination is lower than they like so you can overplant to compensate. Actually I have never had any trouble with the germination so I think they are especially good folks.

Re trading, I have such a large  selection of seeds now there is nothing I really need,I am a wee bit confused about  someone being interested in eggplants as I tend to use the name eggplant which is the same as aubergine.( Eggplant in the US..aubergine in the UK , and having lived over there fort years I still tend to stick to the US terms) Please clarify, I will certainly share if I have anything different.
