Topic: What have you done...................

[Grandma]

.................that you wouldn't have, couldn't have, might not have done without A4A?

To kick off....

I have:-

1)   learned to cook perfect Basmati rice every time.
2)   learned to identify a bee-fly at a glance.
3)   grown my first (60lb!) pumpkin.
4)   plucked up the courage to visit my local Co-op and asked what they did
      with their flower-buckets and walked away with 13 lovely big pots for
      free!
5)   been tempted into growing a butternut squash  :o :o :o (had to chop it
      down before it took over the world!)
6)   learned to tell the good ladybirds from the bad 'uns.
7)   joined my local Freecycle group.
8)  learned how to post pics.
9)   stopped squishing 'nasties' - now I know they're ladybird larvae.
10) did amazing things with loo-roll middles and 2ltr. pop bottles.
11) ordered aubergine and pepper seeds to try (for first time!) next year.
12) bought the best 'gardener's soap' in the whole world.
13) created the smallest 'water feature' in the whole world.
14) learned how to clean the whole house with WD40 and bicarbonate of
     soda.
15) been inspired to try growing peppers and aubergines - (seeds ordered
      for 2008).
16) been inspired to try growing cauliflowers again in 2008 -  (gave up long
      ago as they went from golf-ball size to a bunch of flowers overnight.  :o
17) inspired both darling daughter and super son to make a veg.
      patch and (compost heaps!) in their gardens.
18) 'met' loads of lovely peeps, their families and pets.  :) :) :)

That lot is just off the top of my head - loads more when I stop and think a bit!)

(I've been growing stuff for 44 years - learning new things all the time!)

That is a fantastic list Grandma ;)

1. Got a greenhouse I never thought I would have room for....... ;D
2. Actually have a lottie too now. One day old!........ ;D
3. Received more than I have given away :-[, but thats a'changin'...... ;D
4. Met some of the nicest people on the planet on these forums....... ;D ;D
5. Have been given the best advice and not made to feel a fool for doing it wrong....... ;D ;)
6. Learned about cross pollination of beans...... ;D
7. Smiled when I have been sad, some posts have the best hilarity blessings..... ;D ;)
8. To know there is always someone here to ask or just listen...... ;D :-*

There is a lot more, but in a nutshell. Sincerity, humour, advice, friendships, a kind of sense of belonging etc etc.

....all the above + visited a lotties mate and got given large quantities of home-baked choclit cake ;D

2) met some awesome people virtually
3) hugley expanded my musical listening list
4) laughed, and cried (at the rugby)
5) got some palm oil and an advent calendar for my freddie boy
6) talked my hubby into peeing in the compost bin LOL  ;D ;D
7) received and sent more parcels and letters then ever before
8) discussed books read
9) swapped recipes
10) got advice for absolutely anything with out googling
11) realised there are more mad people out there
12) had an absolutely fabulous time 
13) wasted ???how much time???  :o

Lish Just because my local C0-Op charge me 10p each for flower buckets there is no need for you to keep mentioning you get yours for nothing!! You must have told us at least 3 times last year ;D

never thought about asking for those in the local shop (flower buckets), my dad used to work in one of the tesco rubbish processing warehouses and used to get them for nothing - gona give my local co-op a try tomorrow

Ah ah! but they were not 'black' buckets were they? We all know what happens if the bucket is not black, it is alright for growing annuals but watch out after the first frost.  ;)
