Ransomes

I have just got an allotment and it has ransomes in seed, if anyone would like some  just shout ;) ;D
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Yes it is, and very nice as well. ;D

It does spread, so you would need to control it ;)

Thanks for the congrats too btw. The lady is fantastic.....what is her title ???....anyway I said I might not get down till next week and was worried she may let it go to someone else.

She said not to worry and it was mine until such time I didnt want it, even without meeting me! How nice is that? Now she really is the star ;D ;D

These Ransomes, are they used like normal garlic or is it grown for the look/smell?

I think most people grow it as an ornamental, which it certainly is if you can give it space in a shady spot. But it's perfectly usable.

Yes it is meant to be a woodland plant, but its all over my new plot which is in full sun :) Its going to be fun controlling it :-\

As R_B says it is usable though I havent tried it yet, but I certainly will now ;)

I've never used the bulb, but the leaves, which i've used when camping, will give a mild garlic flavour.

We actually bought , earlier this year, a jar of dried wild garlic, which looked like it was the leaves chopped up like any other herb. A beautiful rich dark green colour, and as has been said, a mild garlic taste. Useful when you just want a hint of garlic, not too overpowering.

I think we got it from Aldi in St James star. One of their odd lines they get in from time to time?
