Flowering for the first time and natch the label is long gone. Seen this a Bodnant, but the photo has no label either. Typical. Anyone. TIA.

the flower heads look a bit like chelone lyoni but not sure if the leaves are spiky or dark enough :-\

No, it is a definite shrub. I will know the name when I hear it. We have Chelone and the leaves are nothing like.

No, don't think so. This is a small shrub from what I remember at Bodnant, say about 3 to 4 feet tall. We are hoping to go next week so I will look for a label then.

After much scrabbling round at the base of the plant I found enough of a label to identify. It is Desmodium tiliifolium. Thanks for trying.
