teeny tiny vole
« on: September 17, 2007, 16:04:11 »
at least I think he's a vole... definitely not a mouse as he didn't have mouse ears!
he's currently living under the carpet by the brassica bed, and he's about the length of my little finger, including tail :)
he's made himself a beautiful little nest out of grass (top right)

The ears are hidden by the stem but it does look like a vole. They have short tails and small ears, and they don't move as fast. You'd be extremely lucky to get that shot of a mouse!

My daughter uncovered a vole on her allotment last week, they are cute.

You did really well to get that photo.....so pleased you zoomed in though as my failing eyesight missed the point in the first pic ;D
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

oh I think that's what I have got! I saw him in the compost  bin the other day! I pulled away the bottom plank and there he was, he just stood and looked at me. so now I am careful where I tread around there!! he'll get lots of food from the scraps in my bin anyhow!
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

I think I have them too - I'll let them stay the winter, but after that... :-\
I'm still not happy that they ate half my carrots, and the parsley roots.  OK - for the carrots, I'll let them off, I had plenty anyway, but the parsley roots.... grrr  >:( ;)

aww, but they are soooo cute.  They've eaten tonnes of stuff on my lottie ...including next years sunflower seeds that I have been drying carefully.
