Black chilli pods - why?
« on: September 08, 2007, 19:53:26 »
First year growing Jalapenos, and wonder why they are all slowly turning black.

Disease or a natural progression?

It's normal - they turn black before ripening to red.

Don't Jalapeno's start to taste less nice when ripe - I think you should take the crop when still green? That's what I tried to do this year; but they beat me to it. Still nice when red but I think they're supposed to be nicer green.

Just different!

We pick & freeze both for different uses.
