leek plantlets
« on: July 09, 2007, 16:42:27 »
A long shot and a cheek, but if any of you have more leeks than you need and you are planning on dumping them on your compost heap, I could give them a good home.  As I posted in Basics, mine all expired whilst I have been recovering.  Son has sown more, but I think we have really missed the leek boat.  I went to 2 nurseries today to try and buy some but then didn't have any, and I have been looking online at the various seed companies and can't find any anywhere.  If any of you know where I can buy some that would be great.

Cheers all.

Just seen this thread E J -  we dibbed in the biggest of our late leeks today, and have loads of small (4-5 '') seedlings left over
Variety is  'Meziers Long'  from Real Seeds - (sowed the whole packet and we'll never eat that many leeks ! )
PM me your address if they could be any use to you

Are you still looking for some leek plantlets.

Not promising anything but I will be platning out my leeks this week-end and might just have a couple for you.  Let me have your pm just in case. I think I have more than I have space for.

Did you get any? I've just rescued about 40 from a plant pot abandoned by another plot holder... Musselburgh Improved...

Are there are leeks left?  As a newbie lottie holder we're struggling to get things growing..  Will pm you but understand if they've all been grabbed before I got here!  ;D

I've PM'd you my addy Dad....many thanks - and thanks to EJ for asking the original question. I'd not thought of asking here when I'd gone around trying to find leeklets ::)

OK Ladies... Leeklets are in the post, first class... 70p postage, 65p per padded envelope, and with any luck you should have 15 little leeks by am delivery tomorrow!

I know this is 'off topic' but it's because EJ started it.......I've not seen her posting lately, know she's been recovering from her surgery, thought she was getting on well but not seen her around......does anyone know if she's ok?....maybe away on holiday.

I'm puzzled why she's not 'jumped in' and said she'd like some of the leeks :-\

You are a star Saddad - leeks arrived this morning and I was out there with my dibber immediately  ;D.  Made the holes, filled them with Wormcast from Wyevale GC. dibbed again, dropped the plantlets in the holes and watered them in. Job done  ;). Took photos, but the transfer from camera to PC mechanism is on the blink again. Will try again tomorrow.
