i have a gage and damson tree that have been in the ground for a year now and due to gaining axtra sq yds i'm hoping to move them to pastures new.
When is the best time to move them?
Any tips greatly received.

All deciduous trees are best moved when dormant, after they have dropped all their leaves..
Hope you can wait that long...

If they are substantially rooted trees, I would prefer to dig out a foot or so around the stem, fill with a loose peaty compost, allow a year to grow into that & then move.

i've been told any month with an 'r' in it. i had to move a plum tree last year that had been in the ground over a year and had fruited well. i moved it in october, this year there's maybe not as much fruit, but it looks happy enough.
