But they make a great noise as you prise them out of the swamp.

I gave up today after I was weeding onions and was stood in one place for several minutes (v. weedy plot at the moment!). I tried to move but was stuck in mud over ankle deep (luckily I was in boots). My, the OH laughed as I flailed about, trying to get out without losing boots, balance or dignity  :-[

I was lifting the summer onions today... in theory but it never stopped raining will be diggin potatoes off a scaffolding plank at this rate...
