Just got my first allotment!
« on: June 24, 2007, 16:04:14 »
I've just got my first allotment (though I have to sign the paperwork yet)!  It's located on Scours Lane in West Reading.  The plot hasn't been used for sometime and the weeds are thriving!  I'm quite excited.

Congratulations! Let the hard word begin!

I think all new plots are like yours. Ours certainly was. Just get stuck in and start clearing. (But don't kill yourself trying to do it all in one go.) If you search through, you'll find plenty of advice here about starting a plot. And it's still not too late to get something planted to eat soon, even if you have to buy in the plants.

Its brilliant if its weedy because then you get the pleasure of making it your own through hard work. Well worth it and I speak through experience.

Absolutely Sawfish. I think if you got the 'perfect' plot you'd struggle to make it your own. Lots of the fun is in the planning and plotting I think.  ;D

Edit - Sorry Red - I'm easily distracted!! Welcome!! Do you actually skydive? If so OOOOOH, how exciting!

Good luck Red.  I have only been on this site a month or so and have found everyone; helpful, informative, friendly, hardworking and generally Top.
