Sweet potato leaves!
« on: July 02, 2007, 20:04:27 »
Hi, I've been eye-ing the leaves of our 5 sweet potato plants. Since they make a delicious and nutritious stir-fry... ::)...and there's not much else to harvest this season thanks to extreme slug activity NO courgette plant left standing... :o... do you think that harvesting some sweet potato leaves now will result in more vigorous leaf production at the expense of the root crop? I don't mind giving up the sweet potatoes if I can get a lot of meals out of those leaves! :P :)  ???

Please let me know what you think! Thanks. :)

I think that at this stage of development the plants will require all the leaves just to stay alive. Removing foliage from small plants will seriously hinder their growth even if is just stems. Make sure your plants have plenty of feed and they should soon produce lots of foliage for you to harvest.
