Has anyone NOT got rain today?
« on: June 30, 2007, 15:01:00 »
Seems to be hitting everyone, though obviously some worse than others. Can anyone cheer us up and tell us they have what we are supposed to have in June?

Well, that got a lot of replies, didn't it?

Guess we've all got the same weather........

I showed a new plot-holder round this morning. Tipping it down with rain. I hope it bodes well that the rain - to say nothing of the sight of 10 poles of assorted weed - did nothing to dampen his hearty spirit! (I had to strip off when I got home & dump everything in the washing machine.)

Hey, ho - off to the Hampton Court Flower Show on Tuesday!

And we've had nothing compared to a lot of you.....................

I guess if anyone has got a dry day they'll be out making the most of it anyway, I know I would be! It hasn't stopped here all day.

I was lucky enough to get an hour in the garden before I got rained off (again).  In that time I managed to tie in the raspberries, cat mint and fuchsias (which have all gone mad), do some dead-heading and shift a few pots around.  Lilies and Fuchsias are in prolific bud but few have dared to open yet.   :(

we decided, as I've been out of action and ray's been babysitting me..we'd go anyway and sod the weather..after all, we won't rust and at least we still have somewhere to go, unlike marestail and jeannine and so many other unlucky folk
so, wet inside our waterproofs, 2 hours later, sore as hell...but, we got all the (well, ray dug 'em up) garlic up, planted the new chinese leaves, picked some beetroot, what looks like the last of the strawberries, lost lots of tay and raspberries...but that's it for a few days now, i'm knackered  ;D

And how is your garlic?  I was thinking of harvesting mine but after all the rain I wondered whether to leave it another week or two.

Leave the garlic until the soil around it has dried off a bit.

Raining all day here in Sutton Coldfield. Tony has had to drain some water off the pool. He is usually having to fill it up at this time of year.

Raining pretty well non-stop here in Winchester.  Whiled away the afternoon playing that stupid game - got a score of 5,188,500 at level 196 until the phone stopped the game!

we bought a hand  pump from ebay, we've been using it to pump out the water from the end of the poly, there've been mozzies breeding in there..anyway, we gave in today and covered the brick path with wood chips to soak it up for now, we were having to put a drawbridge over it !!  ??? ;D

Thanks for confirming my gut instinct.   ;D

Personally,if my garlic was ready to harvest i would not risk leaving in this sodden soil a moment longer!

Ah but mine are in pots in a sheltered position, almost rain shadow.  I stopped watering them last weekend because the foliage was beginning to yellow.  If they were in sodden soil I'd harvest them too.

Woke up to a sunnny day which kept dry but getting steadily dull until 2.30 when we had a fine drizzle.  Its been dry since 5 and the sun shone an hour ago.  Bet we get the heavy stuff tomorrow.
